Patrick “PJ” Jacobsen first came to the attention of dirt track fans as a child prodigy racer, winning more than 30 amateur national titles en route to being named the 2005 AMA Youth Dirt Tracker of the Year at the age of 11.
Jacobsen continued to progress to the point he was named 2010 Progressive American Flat Track Rookie of the Year -- the very first year he was old enough to compete as a professional.
Even before then, the Upstate New Yorker’s skills started attracting the attention of roadracing talent scouts. After winning multiple 125GP national championships in his first year of roadracing in 2006, he was drafted into the 2007 Red Bull MotoGP Academy.
Since then, Jacobsen has become a known quantity on a global scale, contending for World, British and MotoAmerica Supersport championships, while also spending time in World and British Superbike, along with World and CEV 125GP.
After nearly a decade away, Jacobsen returned to Progressive American Flat Track in 2019 to ride for Team Nila/Coolbeth Racing. Despite juggling his AFT Twins effort with a full MotoAmerica schedule, he still managed to demonstrate his natural aptitude for the dirt.
That was most evident when he threw down sixth- and fifth-place finishes over the course of just a handful of days at the Buffalo Chip TT and Black Hills Half-Mile.
